Game Night: A Tabletop Adventure Written From Your Notes

Friday night at Hedda's kitchen table. Hedda runs a fantasy adventure she wrote from your study material, and Jonas, Amira and Theo are playing. In each scene one of them knows the part of your notes it hangs on and explains it. Then you answer and roll a d20: a right answer rolls with advantage, a wrong one with disadvantage.

About Game Night

Game Night is one evening of a tabletop roleplaying game, built from your own study material. Hedda, the friend who always runs the game, has written tonight's adventure out of your notes. It might be a mountain pass, a harbour town, an old walled city or the mines under the mountain, depending on what you are studying. Jonas, Amira and Theo play the party, and you sit at the fifth chair.

Each scene hangs on one part of your material. One of the friends knows that part and explains it at the table before anything is asked, sometimes in character and sometimes as plain table talk. Then the scene needs something from you: a toll board, a lock, a map, a guard who wants an answer. You answer the question, then roll a d20 against the number on Hedda's card.

A right answer rolls two dice and keeps the higher. A wrong one keeps the lower, and the friend who explained it tells you what you missed. That question comes back later in the night, so you get a second try. The last scene puts a monster in the way, and its weak spot is the hardest part of your notes.

With full notes, a night is six scenes and 24 questions, plus second tries for the ones you missed. Your progress is saved on your device, so you can stop and pick up at the same scene later. When you are done, you can play the same night again or ask Hedda for another night from the same notes.

Who It's For

Students who like a story, want to be taught before they are tested, and enjoy rolling dice. It suits anyone who finds plain quizzes dry.

Dates, people and causes are explained as table talk, then tested as the party moves through an old city.

Each scene takes one topic, so a unit on cells or reactions is taught one part at a time.
